As an atheist, I’ve always found explaining how I see religion to a theist rather challenging. I suppose that the two viewpoints must be so fundamentally different that each party cannot quite understand how it feels to be in the others shoes. Which would also explain a lot of the misconceptions surrounding atheism… which of course cuts both ways.
However, this little beauty would appear to solve my little dilemma.
To me at least, this is pretty much a perfect analogy of how an atheist sees religious symbology. And more importantly, how we perceive people carrying out actions “under God”.
Plus, and for extra points, it may be a reference to Russell’s teapot, which would just make me want to give the creators as many internets as I could possibly afford.
